Page 38 - recollections of a life in Porthleven

Seeing as the net was badly ripped we decided to take this one back home
to be repaired. When it was all on board we started to head back home. When
we got back to the outer harbour we went over to our store pots to put our
lobsters and crayfish in. When that was done we went back into the inner
harbour. As we approached the steps I noticed my girlfriend talking to the
girl I had a date with. The tide was all but full tide when we came alongside.
So I jumped off with the bow rope to make the boat fast. Well Dad shut the
engine off etc and shouted at me for something. So I turned to see what he
needed. I was standing on the steps 6-8 feet above the water level. Then my
girlfriend and the other girl pushed me into the harbour and walked away.
Dad climbed off the boat laughing at me and said, 'That will teach you. Next
time I ask you to put the boat into the outer harbour at dinner time, do it'.
He jumped into his car and drove home, leaving me soaking wet on the
harbour side.....

After sharing that one I need a rest for a few weeks.
