| Soloman Rowe was born in Porthleven in 1839. In 1861 he was a ships carpenter and married Mary Jane Robson in Stoke Damerell, Devon. By 1871 he and Mary were living in Peverell Terrace but they then moved to the USA, living in Brooklyn, New York. Their only child, Soloman Robson Rowe, was born in New York in 1880. By 1891 the family has returned to live in Porthleven and they named their house in Peverell Terrace 'Brooklyn'. It still carries this name. By 1901, Solomon Rowe was a yacht builder employing workers in his business. He died in 1915. |
