Page 77 - recollections of a life in Porthleven

But the summer does not last long enough. The visitors returned to their own
homes in towns and cities up the country. Children returned to schools and
the village was returned to the villagers again. On fine late summer days and
evenings you could still find local children swimming in the harbour and
off the beach. Slowly the warmth would go, days would be shorter, the
fishing fleet would start to bring their gear back in and put it into the net
lofts for the winter. Only a few visitors were left walking around the village
before once again, the village would sort of hibernate during the winter
months.
Porthleven, a great and interesting village to visit any month of the year.
What made the village so good? It was the villagers I am sure. All of them
great, wonderful characters. People who I will never, ever forget. I would
to say thank you to them all for making my childhood days so full of
memories which I still have today. Also, thank you to all those who have
read and commented on my stories.
Porthleven, probably the best village in the world…..
