Mr. W. E. WILLIAMS 

(76) Was Born in Cornwall

Born 76 years ago at the sea-port town of Porthleven in Cornwall, William Eddy WILLIAMS, who passed away at Pirie Hospital after a long illness, came to this city in 1913.

Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. WILLIAMS, deceased was born on May 3, 1877. and spent his early years in his hometown, being early attracted to the fishing trade.

On May 1, 1898, he married Miss Mary Jane WINN and several years later moved with his wife and three young children to the North of England, where he engaged in mining.

A desire for travel and a new world led the family to come to Australia, their first destination being Victoria in 1912. The following year they removed to Pirie, and except for a period of five years spent at Port Lincoln, Pirie became the home of the family.

Mr WILLIAMS was employed by Chas. Geddes & Co., for many years until his retirement, eight years ago. In the past three years he suffered much ill-health.

Possessed of a fine tenor voice in his younger days, Mr. WILLIAMS applied his talents at the age of 15 years, joining a church choir at Porthleven. For the remainder of his life there was no recreation he enjoyed more than singing, being a member of several Methodist choirs both at Port Lincoln and Pirie.

TAUGHT CHILDREN

He was also keenly interested in the religious education of the young, and served as a teacher for some years at Central Mission. While at Lincoln he engaged in similar work, and on his return to Pirie he undertook the superintendency of Risdon Park Methodist Sunday School, holding that office for more than 15 years.

Mrs. Williams experienced poor health for many years and pre deceased her husband by one day less than two years.

Of their union three children were born—Robert, Willie, and Susie. Willie passed away some years ago as a result of his war service, and Mr. Robert Williams and Miss Susie Williams are resident in Pirie.

Rev. Peler Williams, of Box Hill (Victoria), and Mr. Jack Williams, of Pirie, are brothers of deceased.

After a short service at Risdon Park Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. W. B. Kelley, Mr Wil liams' remains were laid to rest in Pirie Cemetery.
