TORLEVEN today forms the northern edge of the built-up part of
Porthleven. In the nineteenth century it was a separate locality of a few scattered houses. In the 1700's it tended to be called, and on maps shown as, TRELEAN.
Before the early 1700s, when the name PORT LEVEN / PORTLEAVEN came into use, Torleven [meaning the farm of St Elvan] was the original name of the hamlet.
TRANNO is a farm a mile northwest of Porthleven, between Porthleven and
Breage. (The farm itself lies between the TREGUNNO and TREGREW farms).
