NOTE |
William John Bawden Kitchen was born in Porthleven Cornwall on 10 June 1893. His parents were Thomas Kitchen, a fisherman, and Bessie Bawden. He was the fourth of nine children. While his older brothers became fisherman and joined the Royal Naval Reserve, William did not like the sea so he went to work on a farm. Following the war, he married Lizzie Hosking, a Porthleven girl and had two children. They settled at Hessole Villa in Herniss near Penryn. He set up his own grocery business and had a van with which he delivered goods to his customers in the local area. However, during the Second World War there were fuel shortages, so he went to work as a Labourer at Falmouth Docks. He passed away on the 7 March 1963. |
