ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I must say ‘Thank You’ to my wife, Jen, and admire her patience and help
in writing my stories. The stories are mine but the typing, grammar and
punctuation are hers!
‘Thank you’ to Mr Stephen Rod for recognising the value of my stories.
A big ‘Thank you’ also goes to my family and friends in Porthleven.
Without the positive and kind comments from members of ‘Cornish
Nostalgic Memories’ my stories would not have even been written let alone
me having the privilege of sharing my most personal memories and my own
moments with many strangers who quickly became my friends.

MUR RES, ONEN HAG OLL (THANK YOU, ONE & ALL)

                                   DEDICATION

Without question I would like to dedicate this book to my Mother who I and
the rest of my family lost far too soon. To my dear Dad who dedicated his
short adult life to his children and to my wonderful grandparents who opened
their home to us and loved and supported us unconditionally. Without all
their love there would be no precious memories.

                            NOTE TO THE READER

When originally writing my stories I had no photos, just my memories but
I shared my stories with the members of the Facebook group called Cornish
Nostalgic Memories. Members of this group share wonderful and interesting
photos of all aspects of Cornish life. When I was encouraged to create a
book of my stories I thought it would be more interesting to have a few
photos to enhance my stories. I went up in the loft and dug out the family
photos I have been given over the years and have used them where I feel
they are appropriate.
The stories were written from memory, three with the help of my
imagination. I hope this little book gives as much enjoyment to the reader
as it has done to the writer! I particularly hope my children and grandchildren
enjoy learning about my childhood.
